Ashtila, Sanskrit for a round pebble, a small stone that can be held in one hand. 

A Pebble is the rare object that arrives at its from entirely by subtraction. Nothing is added to it and nothing is designed into it. water removes whatever is weakest, for a long as it takes, and what remains is not a shape anybody chose. it is what was left when there was nothing further to take away. Every stone in a reverbed has been through the same process and no two have arrived at the same result. Ashtila takes that logic to the scale of room. There is no straight line anywhere on the either piece, no corner, no flat plane meeting another flat plane. Each surface runs into the next without a transition, and the form reads differently from every position you stand in.
